Cargotec Strengthens Global Support

cargotec_webAs part of Cargotec‘s strategy to strengthen its global service network, the company has opened up new service stations in Zeebrugge in Belgium, Esbjerg in Denmark, Liverpool in the United Kingdom, Cadiz and Ferrol in Spain, Kaohsiung in Taiwan, and Balboa in Panama.

Bernt Gunnarson, business development director for MacGregor Service at Cargotec: “By combining Cargotec’s global marine service network with a wide range of maintenance and service solutions for customer fleets, we are able to increase our availability for customers and also reduce a ship’s lifecycle costs. A key to success in the merchant and offshore shipping industry is to have a global service network. Although already being the largest in its business, Cargotec continues to strengthen its service network to support the sales of its MacGregor, Kalmar and Hiab product ranges.”

During the last year, a full global review was done and thousands of ports and yards were studied to find areas where additional permanent service establishment could be beneficial. After the first filtering process, 400 locations were studied in more detail, and shortly thereafter a decision on opening the above first wave of new service stations was taken. A second wave of widening service operations is now also in its final preparation stage. It includes locations in both the Mediterranean and Baltic Sea areas, as well as another office in Brazil. “A specific market study on Latin America is also being carried out for us to see if any further locations might be needed, other than the new ones in Panama and Brazil,” Mr Gunnarson notes.
