ACE Winches, a leader in the design, manufacture and hire of hydraulic winches, marine deck machinery and provision associated personnel for the offshore oil and gas, marine and renewable energy markets, has won a coveted oil industry Oscar at the Scottish Offshore Achievement Awards ceremony held in Aberdeen. Chief executive Alfie Cheyne accepted the award at a glittering ceremony at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre on 25 March, hosted by BBC Scotland’s Jackie Bird.

The awards are organised by Scottish Enterprise. The Aberdeenshire-based company was the winner of the Export Achievement Award category, which recognises business growth resulting from successful development of export activity in the oil and gas sector. The judges look for evidence that businesses have instigated a clear and thorough export planning process, identified key export markets, achieved a successful market and captured market share.

Mr. Cheyne said he was delighted to accept the award: “Winning this Scottish Offshore Achievement Award is a great honour, not only for me personally, but also for the company as a whole. It is a recognition of the hard work, focus and commitment of everyone at ACE Winches since we entered the marine and offshore market.” He added: “ACE Winches not only provide tailor-made solutions for their clients in the manufacturer and hire of deck machinery, but we continue to heavily invest and grow a strong hire fleet division. The award is also an appreciation of our efforts within the north east economy to export our products, services and skills to the global market. We have established a strong hire fleet division that has enabled us to export products and services globally. The award is also an appreciation of our efforts within the north-east economy to export our skills and products to the global market.”

Adrian Gillespie, director of energy and low carbon technologies at Scottish Enterprise said “This year, once again, we have been very impressed with the standard of entries and the continued commitment and enthusiasm of Scotland’s oil and gas companies.”
