Jan De Nul Pontoon-Built Wind Foundations

jdn-wind-webYesterday sixteen wind turbine foundations built by Jan De Nul departed the port of Zeebrugge in Belgium for delivery to Sweden’s Eon. Jan De Nul NV, a branch of Jan De Nul Group, constructed the concrete foundations directly on two pontoons at the inner harbour of Zeebrugge in just five months.

The construction involved four phases: concrete slab, retaining walls, central shaft and icecone. The height of these elements ranges from 15 to 25 m. The heaviest element weighs approximately 1,940 t. The biggest pontoon departed the port successfully yesterday at 6 p.m.

Jan De Nul Group is responsible for the design, the construction, as well as the installation at sea.
