Nor-Shipping Awards Call for Entries
Nor-Shipping announces the call for entries for the Nor-Shipping Awards 2013: the Energy Efficiency Award (previously the Clean Ship Award), the Next Generation Ship Award and – new this year – the Young Entrepreneur Award.
The Energy Efficiency Award pays tribute to the ship with the greatest contribution towards energy efficiency in relation to its function and operation, honoring Nor-Shipping’s tradition of serving as a platform for the promotion of environmentally responsible performance. Continuing the spirit of the 2011 Clean Ship Award, the Energy Efficiency Award, addresses more than emissions, focusing on the root of the problem rather than its consequence.
A champion for energy efficiency and the developer of the EEDI standard that comes into effect in 2013, the IMO joins Nor-Shipping as its partner for this award.
The Next Generation Ship Award honors innovative design for ships that will be at sea in the coming decade. It will be awarded to the ship project demonstrating the greatest advances in design with respect to energy efficiency, innovation, suitability and flexibility, technology utilization, safety and security and environmental sustainability. Eligible projects are those that have already begun being built or are very likely to be built within the next 10 years.
DNV returns as Nor-Shipping’s partner for this award, once again lending its considerable expertise to ensure quality results.
Launching this year is the Young Entrepreneur Award, part of the joint Nor-Shipping/YoungShip effort to further develop Nor-Shipping as an arena for the next generation. Open to nominees from all segments of the industry, it will honor an under 40-year-old professional who has founded a successful company that spearheads challenges or solutions in a new way. The winner will also receive a free display area at the exhibition and advice from a venture company.
The fast-growing international organization for young maritime professionals YoungShip is both Nor-Shipping’s partner for the award and its administrator.
The winners for all awards will be announced during the Nor-Shipping Opening Conference on June 4, 2013.
