Site IMS 700 _ RENDER Aerienne05Superyacht refit and maintenance specialist IMS Shipyard expands its service offer and multiplies its berthing capacities five-fold: At the heart of the Toulon bay (South of France), the shipyard is opening 80 additional berths to accommodate up to 100 yachts from twenty to eighty metres in length on its two sites. The shipyard will be ready to receive the first yachts at the end of 2014.

The former St-Mandrier naval air station: a remarkable site and setting. Work has begun: IMS Shipyard’s extension project on the former naval air station in St-Mandrier on the bay of Toulon is currently underway. The infrastructures for super and mega yacht repair and maintenance will receive the first yachts at the end of this year on a site that is both beautiful and impressive! The yard will offer everything super yacht owners and captains could wish for. Viewed from the former control tower, to be transformed into a VIP office to welcome clients and public figures, it is an awe-inspiring sight. With the magnificent bay of Toulon on the horizon, 50,000m2 of a vast basin have been attributed to IMS in the form of a thirty year lease agreement. There is also the 60,000m2 standing area on the hard (five times the surface area owned by the company on its site IMS 300) and four enormous boat-sheds for housing three yachts up to 50m at the same time.

Uncomparable capacity and service offer in the Mediterranean. IMS Shipyard has been a renowned key player in the maintenance, repair & refit sector for the last 25 years and with the addition of the IMS 700 site it becomes the largest yacht repair yard in the Mediterranean with a total surface area of 130,000m2s. It has the capacity to house up to 100, 20 to 80m yachts and an extremely comprehensive service.

First boats to be received end of the year 2014. The definitive go-ahead to begin work was made possible by the signature of a 30 year temporary occupation agreement between the French Navy, the Toulon conurbation committee (TPM) and YSEC from the holding company Nepteam, owners of IMS Shipyard. Work has already begun on the preparation of the hard standing area by planing down the asphalt. This phase will be followed by preparation of the platform (crushing, ground levelling and treatment). Work will continue throughout the summer and autumn of 2014 with several phases regarding the maritime zone (construction of a hauling out place, a floating break water and a floating pontoon); the buildings for in-house crews and ship crew members (including a 500m2 CREW QUARTER specifically for crew members) and refurbishment of the sheds that were hosted French Navy planes and helicopters for a large part of the twentieth century.
