Lady Visitor at Lindenau

Lindenau_LadyHester_72dpiIn the middle of June the Lady Hester – a 2990GRT measured and 98m long general cargo vessel of the Dutch shipping company Wijnne Barends – fastened at the Lindenau Werft GmbH for an intermediate survey.

After the ship had docked into the dock No. 2 of the traditional yard. With help of the yard’s team the following voyage of the 2011 built Lady Hester was not endangered. As support 15 staff members from the welding and shipbuilding departments of the sister facilities Nobiskrug as well as ADM Kiel were sent to Kiel Friedrichsort. Thus it was possible to finish by the evening of 26 June 2014 which enabled the ship to load the new cargo on board in time.

“This project is exemplary for the good cooperation of our three shipyards Nobiskrug, ADM Kiel and Lindenau. All clients have only one contact for all repair items,” Bernd Wittorf, head of repair department, explains the proceeding of order at the same time emphasising: “As main contact in the repair sector inquiries – especially for clients of the commercial shipping – are received at the Lindenau Werft. From there repair places, docking possibilities as well as the necessary personnel is coordinated which permanently guarantees the client the same competent contact as well as the optimal solution.”

Even after this successfully finished order the Lidenau Werft is very busy, Bernd Wittorf reports. “Already since 30 June 2014 a tender of the German Navy is in the dock for renewal of the shaft seal. Directly after this a repair order on a pontoon with extensive steel work has followed. Furthermore a container ship is docked at the same time due to a propeller damage.”
