Change of Affiliation on the Upper Rhine
With effect from 1 September 2014, Contargo’s terminal in Germersheim is now operating as a part of Contargo Rhein-Neckar. By this integration, Contargo is supporting the site with the know-how and personnel resources of one of its largest groups of terminals. Until now the terminal was affiliated to Contargo Network Service.
“As a part of strategic development in the Rhine-Neckar Region – which includes forthcoming expansion measures at the sites in Ludwigshafen and Mannheim – we have made the decision to integrate terminal operation in Germersheim into Contargo Rhein-Neckar”, explains Konrad Fischer, Managing Director Contargo. Dietrich Jung, Terminal Operational Manager in Germersheim, will continue there in his present capacity.
The terminal in the Germersheim industrial port has two berths for inland vessels. There are weekly barge connections to Antwerp and Rotterdam. Conveniently situated between the terminals of Ludwigshafen and Wörth, the Germersheim location completes Contargo’s concept of a comprehensive, full-coverage network. A crane and a reach stacker are available for container handling. The on-site depot provides interim storage for up to 1000TEU.
