CT Offshore_SIA_First cable Gode WindOn 8 June 2015, CT Offshore’s Cable Laying Vessel SIA installed the first cable on DONG Energy’s Gode Wind Offshore Wind Farm in the German part of the North Sea. SIA will install all of the 97 inter-array cables.

The crew on board SIA had been waiting on weather to install the first cable on Gode Wind since last Thursday and on the morning of 8 June, the weather had settled for the installation. The operation went according to plan and John Skelmose, Master on board SIA expressed his satis-faction afterwards: “The operation went very well and according to plan. There was a high focus on the safety of the crew, and installing the product in a safe and sound manner. During the installation, it was evident that the crew on board SIA is experienced. The cooperation with DONG Energy, our subcontrac-tor, C-wind, and the rest of the team around the installation was impeccable. We are just looking forward to installing of the rest of the 97 cables.”

Also the client, DONG Energy was satisfied: “I am pleased to say we have completed the first cable lay. The whole operation was a success with no HSE issues, accidents or damage to the product. CTO was very efficient during this op-eration and there was a really big effort from all involved. It was particularly pleasing to see the period of time waiting on weather being used so constructively to conduct a number of safety drills”, says Mike Hildyard, Offshore Installation Cable Manager in DONG Energy.

Last week, CT Offshore issued a press release on the new CTO 107-1100 trencher ROV. The ROV will start burial of the cables within 2-3 weeks from now.
