FMJ signs a 10-year maintenance contract with TESO

IMG_4053The 26th of June, FMJ Marine & Offshore has signed a 10-year E&I maintenance contract with the Koninklijke NV Texel Eigen Stoomboot Onderneming (TESO) concerning the new vessel called Texelstroom. This new vessel is a unique eco-ferry, because of innovative applications of various techniques that will indorse the sustainability of the operation as well as the efficiency of the use of the fuel on board. The high quality automation on board will play a big role in this.

The ferry is equipped with the latest hybrid technics and the fuel that will be used is compressed natural gas (CNG) and in addition energy will be generated by solar panel on the ship. The consumption of fuel is expected to decline significantly compared to the Dokter Wagemaker, the existing vessel of TESO (since 2005). Also, the comfort of the passengers on board is of the utmost importance to TESO. The “green” vessel is currently being built at the yard of LaNaval in Sestao, Spain. The Texelstroom will replace the ferry Schulpengat, which was built in 1990. In the beginning of 2016, the Texelstroom will be ready for use.

In the first year of the building process, FMJ will support the Spanish constructor Ingeteam locally, if necessary, with possible warranty items and modifications, concerning the electro technical installations. Moreover, at the end of summer 2015, FMJ will provide assistance during the construction and starting-up phase. FMJ will play a role in the trainings given to, among others, the TESO mechanics regarding working with the high quality electro technical installation, too.

By this contract, FMJ Marine & Offshore and TESO have made a start of a great collaboration and of operationally reliable and safe journeys of the Texelstroom.
