men_at_workAlewijnse Noord, part of the leading system integrator Alewijnse Marine Systems, has successfully won the international ISO 14001 environmental certification. This follows the success of Alewijnse Marine Rotterdam in the same endeavour. The ISO 14001 certificate provides evidence that Alewijnse Noord also operates an environmental management system across the organization that meets the requirements established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

Alewijnse Noord performed extremely well in its assessment for ISO 14001 certification; scoring particularly highly for its extraordinary initiatives to improve its handling of waste streams and achievement in reducing CO2 emissions.

By receiving ISO 14001 certification, Alewijnse Noord has achieved a milestone in its programme to increase its commitment corporate to social responsibility.  “We take our corporate social responsibilities very seriously,” said Jan Oud, Director at Alewijnse Noord. “Our employees and the communities in which we work deserve the very highest standards, and our customers share many of the same objectives. We are delighted to have achieved this certification and will continue to look for new ways to minimise our impact on the environment.”

ISO 14001 is one of the standards in the ISO 14000 series and is used globally for setting up and certificating environmental management in businesses. Companies that adopt an environmental management system pay systematic attention to the environment in its operations. The management system focuses on controlling and improving all aspects of environmental performance.
