Launch of Esvagt Njord

esvagtPoland’s Nauta Shiprepair Yard launched a partly outfitted offshore service vessel, the Esvagt Njord, on January 22 marking the first vessel launching at the yard for this year.

Nauta and Havyard Ship Technology of Norway, the designer of the vessel, signed a shipbuilding contract for the 84-meter-long, 17-meter-wide Esvagt Njord back in January 2015.

Once completed, Esvagt Njord will be dispatched in September to operate at the 400 MW Dudgeon offshore wind farm off Norfolk, UK. There the ship will provide accommodation and transport of personnel and equipment needed for maintenance of the offshore wind farm.

Esvagt Njord will have room for 40 wind turbine technicians. The technicians will live on the ship, from where they will be transferred to the turbines via a special gangway system to service and carry out maintenance the wind turbines.
