The Loggia-Cabin Concept

LoggiaCabin4[1]Marine glazing company Brombach + Gess introduces a new cabin design, the Loggia-Cabin, for cruise ships and river cruise ships.

In a conventional cabin balcony, the outer area can only be used in reasonable weather conditions and agreeable temperatures. The space is exclusively available outside and the private sphere is restricted on two sides. With the innovative design of the Loggia-Cabin Concept, the outer area is designated as part of the cabin area and can be completely used as a private area.

View and noise restrictions with respect to neighbouring cabins are eliminated through closed sides of the former open area. The new concept extends the area of the cabin by the size of the balcony. More space is thus made available to the guests and better-quality furnishings may also be offered. The concept combines both the indoor and outdoor advantages.

The new cabin type is outfitted with a horizontally divided panoramic glass front. The upper part can be lowered down to provide a glazed balustrade whereby it forms a cabin with open space. In a closed position the moveable upper window and the fixed lower window are aligned to form a perfect flat facade. The cabin can be divided by a simple glass sliding panel, ensuring that the indoor area remains protected against outdoor influences when the panorama window is open and the spacious former outdoor area is used as a ‘loggia’. The available space can thus be adjusted to meet the preference of the customer.

The ship-owner is able to offer guests more attractive and spacious cabins with this new design. In addition, maintenance and repair of the ship is easier and the visual closed shell plate of the ship through the Loggia-Cabin Design reduces the resistance of the ship and results in a reduction of wind noise.
