Environmentally Sound, Universal Lubricant for Rough Seas

Salty air, freezing temperatures, stormy winds and heavy swells – the rough ambient conditions of the high seas have a high impact on the bearings in cranes, winches, fairleads and rudder systems.

At SMM, Klüber Lubrication presented its new, completely biodegradable, high-performance lubricant Klüberbio BM 32-142, especially developed for the eco-friendly lubrication of rolling and plain bearings subjected to extreme maritime conditions.

In addition to the EU Ecolabel, Klüberbio BM 32-142 complies with the requirements for classification as an Environmentally Acceptable Lubricant (EAL) in terms of biodegradability, toxicity and bioaccumulation, as defined by the US Environmental Protection Agency for the 2013 Vessel General Permit. Designed for the lubrication of rolling and plain bearings subject to high surface pressure, the good low-temperature behaviour of the new multi-purpose grease enables operation with very low ambient temperatures down to as little as minus 40°C. Good wear and corrosion protection is provided by special additives.
