G9 Rebrands as G+

The G9 Offshore Wind Health and Safety Association (G9) has today rebranded itself as the G+ Global Offshore Wind Health & Safety Organisation (G+).

Since its formation in 2012, the G9 has taken a leading role in facilitating health and safety improvements in the offshore wind industry. The importance of that responsibility was recognised at the Health & Safety Executive (HSE)’s Offshore Wind Leaders workshop held in Bootle in November 2015, with the significance of the organisation’s leadership role highlighted and reinforced to a wide range of industry stakeholders.

Jonathan Cole, Managing Director – Offshore of ScottishPower Renewables, and Chairman of G+ Global Offshore Wind Health & Safety Organisation, says, “Following on from the HSE Bootle workshop, and as part of our ongoing efforts to demonstrate that we are an inclusive organisation and have an international reach, we have decided to change our name to better reflect these ambitions. As the organisation’s Chairman, I will be promoting the fact that the G+ is not limited to its founding members and will welcome new participants.”

The primary aim of the G+ remains to create and deliver world class health and safety performance across all of its activities in the offshore wind industry. This aim is supported through the development of industry health and safety incident data reports, good practice guidelines and Safe by Design workshop reports. All of these materials are freely available to download from the G+ website.
