Javelin International Builds Second Vessel for Braveheart Marine

Javelin 25.25Braveheart Shipping assigned Javelin International to build the Javelin 25.25, big sister of the Javelin 22.22 that was delivered in 2012. With this new seaworthy and multifunctional work vessel, Braveheart is further expanding its offshore services in the area of crew tendering, hydrographic and seismological research and survey activities. This Javelin (25.9m long, 7m wide, 1.45m draft) will be equipped with a gyro stabilisation system that ensures a stable position serving a dual purpose: the system decreases swaying so accurate measurements can also be made when waves are high. In addition, it ensures the crew can safely embark or disembark the vessel during a high wave impact. Also, the crew, sometimes remaining on board for months, doesn’t have to experience the continuous and extreme sways of the vessel.

The Javelin 25.25, designed in collaboration with Vripack, offers more space and capacity to the crew compared to its almost 5-year-older sister. Because of the enlargement of the fuel tank the ship is able to remain at sea significantly longer. This comes in handy as large distances have to be covered in order to carry out offshore activities all over the world. To date, the design has been tested by the Maritime Research Institute Netherlands (MARIN) in Wageningen and calculated to optimise the stability (roll and pitch) of the vessel. The ship will be developed in such a way that it can be used for both survey and crew tendering activities as well as construction and maintenance of wind parks. The keel was laid on 28 October and expected delivery time is planned in June 2017.
