Three Decommissioning Vessels for Shandong

Topside removalShandong Twin Marine (STM) has ordered three decommissioning vessels from Chinese shipbuilder CIMC Raffles for the dismantling of offshore platforms in the North Sea area.

Two vessels will be responsible for offshore platform decommissioning; the third will be used for the transport of the dismantled parts.

The semi-submersibles will be 206.3m long, 42m wide and will be able to accommodate 200 people. The two dismantling vessels will be equipped with multiple heavy-duty cranes with a maximum lifting capacity of 34,000t.

Both CIMC Raffles and STM are approaching markets for possible contracts for decommissioning of aging offshore fields. It is not clear when the new vessel will be delivered, pending those charter contracts.
