Fugro Awarded Major Five-year Contract from Inpex


Browse basinFugro has been awarded a contract from Inpex Operations Australia for subsea services to be executed across the Ichthys facilities in the Timor Sea, located approximately 220km from the coast of Western Australia. The five year contract encompasses field operations support, inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM) services and will run for five years, with options to extend. Fugro will provide all services through its office in Perth. The work will be performed under Fugro’s QHSE system, which is in accordance with industry leading QHSE and operational standards.

This IRM contract fits well within our asset integrity business line, which centers around inspection and monitoring services, supporting optimal utilisation and longevity of our clients’ infrastructure.”

The Ichthys LNG Project is currently in construction and is ranked among the most significant oil and gas projects in the world. The Ichthys LNG Project is a Joint Venture between Inpex (the Operator), major partner Total, CPC Corporation Taiwan and the Australian subsidiaries of Tokyo Gas, Osaka Gas, Kansai Electric Power, JERA and Toho Gas. A Final Investment Decision for the Ichthys LNG Project was reached in 2012 and first production is scheduled to commence towards the end of September 2017. The Project is expected to produce 8.9 million tonnes of LNG and 1.6 million tonnes of LPG per annum, along with more than 100,000 barrels of condensate per day at peak.

Gas and condensate from the Ichthys Field will be exported to onshore facilities for processing near Darwin via an 890km pipeline. Most condensate will be directly shipped to global markets from a floating production, storage and offloading facility permanently moored near the Ichthys Field in the Browse Basin.
