Newest Christensen Launch Moves to Finish Bay

Cabin and Keel of Hull 38 Join at Christensen Shipyard, February 2017Christensen Shipyards celebrated the joining of Hull 38’s keel and cabin at the company’s yard in Vancouver, Washington just in time for Valentine’s Day. This newest Christensen milestone marks the transition of the 50m full-volume yacht from two separate production bays into one of the yard’s finish bays freed last summer after the launches of Hull 38’s sistership Silver Lining and the 50m yacht, Chasseur.

Hull 38’s high-gloss black walnut interior is well along in completion. Her interior bulkheads and walls are complete, as are a majority of the yacht’s plumbing runs. The yard’s staging room is full of finished woodwork ready to be installed once the plumbing and wiring is complete. The yard anticipates Hull 38 will be ready for launch by summer of 2018.

Besides the usual cabinetry, stainless steel and stonework, Hull 38 features significant advances. While already among the quietest and most insulated yachts in production, Christensen has innovated extensive sound and vibration dampening, and added insulation to further control heat from entering the yacht’s structure to minimise the need for power-consuming air conditioning.

Like all Christensen yachts, Hull 38 comes fully equipped with elevator, tenders, mooring lines and fenders. She is a full ABS vessel with a 4,000nm cruising range.
