Iranian Trade Mission to Europort Turkey

DSC_0108During Europort Turkey, taking place from 5 – 8 April in Tuzla – Istanbul, a special trade mission from Iran will come over to visit the exhibition and have meetings with potential business partners. Delegates include buyers from the shipbuilding and marine industry, port management, hydrographic services as well governmental authorities. The trade mission is coordinated through the KTP Group, with the full backing and support of the Iranian Association of Naval Architecture (IANA).

Shipbuilding in Turkey
Turkey maintains a prominent position in the international maritime industry and for Turkish ship and yacht yards it is ‘business as usual’. In 2016 Turkish yards delivered 85 vessels with a total tonnage of 279 000 CGT. Turkey ranks fourth place in terms of shipbuilding and has significantly increased its capabilities and competitiveness in the construction of larger ships, including heavy freighters and multipurpose container ships. In recent years, Turkey has tapped into niche markets such as fishing boats, research vessels, luxury yachts, tugs, supply vessels, naval vessels and offshore ships, which has led to growing participation by Turkish shipyards in the international trade in new ships. This year several orders have already been placed with Turkish shipyards for ferries and offshore support vessels. Reason enough to attend Europort Turkey.

New location in 2017
After a decade of solid presence in Istanbul, Europort has now chosen a new location, right in the beating heart of Istanbul’s shipbuilding industry: Tuzla. This move also comes with a new branding of the exhibition, underlining the maritime power of Turkey not only in Istanbul, but also in other key regions in the country. Europort Turkey will be held at Viaport Marina in Tuzla, one of Turkey’s youngest and most dynamic marinas. Over 200 participating brands have confirmed for this year. To be able to host all exhibitors, Europort has created special halls in Tuzla with a capacity of 10,000 m2.

Tuzla
Tuzla is the number 1 shipbuilding region in Turkey. Together with its sub-industries, suppliers and contractors, it represents the largest production capacity in the country. It is located in the southern part of Istanbul, right on the crossroads of Asia and Europe. Today, Turkey has 70 active shipyards, 27 of which are based in Tuzla and another 25 in the nearby regions of Izmit and Yalova. These yards tend to be multi-purpose, often offering conversions, repairs and maintenance as well as newbuilding works. Tuzla has all the right ingredients to host Europort Turkey, with the nearby Sabia Gocen Airport just a 15-minute drive away and the vibrant Istanbul city centre that is easily reached by car, metro or ferry.

Hosted Buyer Programme
A Hosted Buyer Programme will take place during Europort Turkey. The programme, organised by the Ministry of Economy and coordinated by the Ship and Yacht Exporters Association, is hosted to increase export, diversify products and to find new markets for products under the scope of overseas promotion activities. Buyers from Norway, Panama, Kenya, Iceland, Estonia, Azerbaijan, Quatar, Dubai, Denmark and Finland will come to Europort Turkey to meet with maritime and offshore equipment suppliers.

Kick-start
Europort Turkey will commence with a VIP networking reception on Wednesday 5 April, 2017. Exhibitors and special guests are invited to meet and network onboard the IDO Ferry. The network reception is hosted by IDO and sponsored by SEMAR Marine & ENTECH.
