One Right Solution

The new operator cabin“The new operator cabin recently installed on a Dutch Oil Major’s offshore platform fits like a glove and works like a champ. It is a perfect result that is certainly no accident,” comments Dirk Scholte, Sales Engineer at manufacturer Metagro. “At the start of this project, we executed an offshore inspection including full 3D measurements. We then engineered, produced and delivered the cabin, walkways and cage ladders,” he continues.

At Metagro, which delivered its first cabin for the offshore market more than twenty years ago, every new cabin project begins with the company’s Think-Do-Make approach.Mr Scholte, “Before we start building for a client, whether it is one custom-built cabin or a whole range of cabins, our first step – the Think phase – is to understand the day-to-day use from all different perspectives. So we are not just delivering a product, but a complete, integrated solution that is fit for purpose.”

In the complex North Sea environment, every rig, every platform, faces its own unique challenges. So it stands to reason that every operator cabin presents its own unique challenge, too. Developing the right solution is critical not just to safety, but also to streamlining performance and productivity. To find that one right solution, there’s no substitute for offshore experience. That’s why the company’s sales specialists are increasingly carrying out offshore inspections. Of course, the Metagro team is BOSIET-certified as well as HUET and EBS + CA-EBS.

“When we are on site, we can see the situation with our own eyes and hear directly from the operators. We can make 3D drawings on the spot and put together the technical specifications, so the operator immediately sees his input into the design. We are receiving more and more requests from clients to visit offshore locations to do inspections and therefore we have certified another Metagro colleague to travel and work offshore,” Mr Scholte ends.
