Bayards UP has partnered up with Kubiko, an innovative specialist in anti-guano systems for offshore facilities. Bird droppings on offshore facilities pose a major health and safety hazard. Traditional repellent systems use a limited combination of sounds and light effects. Birds, however, get accustomed to them. So until now, the only way to keep your helideck guano-free has meant frequent cleaning and repainting, as guano is highly corrosive and difficult to remove.
But Bayards UP and Kubiko are developing a game changer: a system that effectively uses artificial intelligence to localise and target birds with a laser projection of a virtual predator. The system uses advanced pattern recognition to discriminate between birds, humans and helicopters, making sure the crew and pilot remain safe.
