The Isle of Man Yacht Forum, in association with the Isle of Man Ship and Aircraft Registers, held its first international conference in London on 2 September. The objective of the conference was to present the many benefits of Isle of Man for yacht and aircraft management and registration to industry professionals from around the world. The event was held in the prestigious Barclay’s Wealth building in Canary Wharf, London, who sponsored the conference, and was chaired by Martin Redmayne, Chairman and Editor in Chief of the Yacht Report. Over 150 people were in attendance at the one-day event to hear representatives from the Island’s superyacht and aircraft management industry present sessions on a wide range of topics including corporate structuring, ship and aircraft registration, VAT and taxation and crew issues. In addition to the Isle of Man representatives, specialists from the superyacht and aviation world took part as speakers and breakout group moderators. The event was supported and attended by key representatives from the relevant departments of the Isle of Man Government, including the Directors of the Ship and Aircraft Registries, Income Tax and the Collector of Customs and Excise, who took to the stage to highlight the many solutions that the Isle of Man can provide clients in superyacht and aircraft registration and management. This reinforced the message of the strength of the public and private partnership which exists to make the Isle of Man so successful in these areas.
