SPC Oil Spill Clean-Up
As a sorbent manufacturer SPC keeps a strategic stock of sorbents and has the flexibility to rapidly respond to oil spills and disasters. As proven once again following the grounding of the Full City bulk carrier on the south coast of Norway last 31 July. The 167m vessel, holding 1,110 t of oil, lost over 200 t o oil in the first hours immediately following the disaster.
To contain the oil spill and for the subsequent clean-up, the Norwegian authorities conferred with both the Norwegian and Danish SPC distributor. Within 48 hours four lorries carrying sorbent booms, pads and rolls headed for Langesund, Norway. The initial actions were carried out successfully. A thorough evaluation will follow.
