Inland Shipping House

europort-campagne_webEuroport 2009, to be held in Ahoy Rotterdam from 3 through 6 November 2009, will be attracting maritime professionals from all sectors. For this year’s edition, inland navigation will have a unique meeting place: the Inland Shipping House.

The collective stand (4.407) will provide room for thirteen inland navigation organisations to present themselves plus a bar to get together and exchange ideas. It will also be the venue for free daily mini-workshops that will address such hot topics as the new Ships’ Waste Convention, economical navigation, and, of course, the economic recession now having such an adverse effect on inland navigation. A total of 25 different workshops will be conducted throughout the four days of the exhibition. Registration in advance is not required, but seats are limited.

During Europort 2009, many inland navigation organisations will be devoting effort to the workshop programme to be held in the specially designed Inland Shipping House. “The inland navigation organisations have been committed to promoting themselves as a group at the Netherlands’ most important maritime exhibition”, says Monique Keller of the Inland Shipping Information Agency. “By doing so, this sector is taking the initiative to shed light on both the innovative and the social aspects of this branch.” Weekblad Schuttevear, one of the leading inland shipping journals in the Netherlands, is also included and will be working with the sector to coordinate the workshop programme.
