New Orbit Americas Sales Director


billtomspon_webOrbit Technologies – delivering advanced solutions for stabilized mobile satellite communications and tracking antennas – announces the appointment of William (Bill) Thompson as its new Marine Satcom Sales Director for the Americas.

In recent years, Orbit has focused its efforts on other markets. With the establishment of Orbit GV in Europe, the company has seen its sales in that market growing and reaching 70% of its overall worldwide Satcom sales. Following this remarkable European market success Orbit turns its attention to North and Latin America with the aim of applying the same tried and true model.

“We anticipate a substantial market share increase in the Americas under Mr. Thompson’s leadership,” says Israel Adan, Orbit Communication Systems Inc CEO and Executive VP Sales & Marketing of Orbit Technologies, Israel.  He goes on to say, “As a key part of our efforts to continue to fortify our market position, we intend to duplicate our successful European model globally.  Mr. Thompson’s experience and expertise will help us further establish Orbit’s advanced Satcom solutions as part and parcel of a worldwide internet connectivity revolution.”

Serving in this new role as Orbit Communications Systems’ Director of Sales – Marine Satcom, Americas, Bill Thompson will be responsible for promoting the company’s marine satellite communications solutions for commercial shipping, oil and gas industries, and government maritime operations, throughout this hemisphere.  Mr. Thompson brings with him over 20 years of successful experience in the wireless maritime communications industry were he held a number of executive level positions, most recently as US Vice President for UMC Global of Hamburg, Germany.  His prior positions include tenure as Vice President (Corporate Sales & Distribution) for Connexion by Boeing, Vice President and Acting CEO of Telenor’s Maritime Communications Partners, and President of MarineSat.  Bill holds an MBA from Adelphi University (Garden City, New York) and a Bachelors of Science degree in Marketing from the University of Richmond (Virginia).
