Offshore Crane Orders

macgregor_web1Cargotec has recently won new orders for MacGregor offshore cranes, demonstrating the buoyancy that still remains in the offshore market. The cranes are destined for three vessels being built for US, Russian and Canadian customers. “Although there has been some obvious uncertainty in the marine market for some time, prospects for the offshore and subsea industries remain strong for several years to come,” says Øystein Bondevik, sales director for offshore load-handling at Cargotec.

For the US shipowner, Cargotec will deliver an advanced MacGregor 100t active heave-compensated (AHC) offshore crane with operational capability at depths of 3,000m. The crane is scheduled for installation during early 2010 on one of the operator’s existing vessels. For a new-build government-owned research vessel under construction at a Russian shipyard, two 12-tonne knuckle-jib MacGregor cranes will be  delivered and installed in 2010. For the Canadian order, a knuckle-jib crane will be delivered to an offshore vessel under construction at Halifax Shipyard, with a delivery date planned for early next year.
