Gulf Marine Services, a Middle East region elevating support vessel operator, along with MSC Gusto, has developed a uniquely designed self-propelled self elevating jack-up barge currently under construction in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
The Gusto 2500X vessel, named the GMS Endurance, incorporates an operating water depth of up to 65 metres, accommodation for 150 persons, deck space of 1000 m2, deck load of 11,350 tonnes, self propelled DP2 (dynamic positioning), heavy lift crane capacity of up to 350 tonnes and four legs for faster jacking on location. The GMS Endurance and a sister vessel, the GMS Endeavour, also currently under construction, will help the company expand into the renewables sector as it will position GMS as one of the only providers of jack-up barges capable of working in the sector.

Andy Cobban, technical manager of the construction division, said the GMS Endurance’s size and flexibility “provides it with a greater scope of opportunities within the market and it can be further adapted to suit particular client requirements.”
The company currently has five working jack-up barges and is looking to further increase its presence in the Middle Eastern, West African and North Sea markets.

The GMS Endeavour is scheduled for completion in 2010.
In addition to vessel operations GMS undertakes vessel construction, refits, conversions, fit out and mobilizations from its facilities in Mussafah, Abu Dhabi.
It currently has 3 new jackup barges under construction, which are due for delivery in Q4 2009, Q2 2010 and Q4 2010
