Ceremonial welcome ASD Tug Patriot
On Saturday 14 November, the Patriot arrived safely in Odessa (Ukraine). TOS performed turnkey management in close cooperation with Damen for the delivery from Shanghai (China) to Odessa. A ceremonial welcome took place at the passenger terminal.
The Patriot is the first new build tug for Odessa Sea Commercial Port in the last 27 years. The second vessel will be delivered in January 2010. Patriot’s owner is Tekom Lease and Odessa Sea Commercial Port is the end user. The vessel has a bollard pull of 47 ton.
Patriot was built by Damen Shipyards Changde in China. On 28 October 2009 Damen Shipyards Changde celebrated its 15 years of cooperation with the Damen Shipyards Group. In 1993 Changde Shipyard signed a Joint Venture contract with the Damen Shipyards Group and the first vessel was delivered in 1997. A next important step in the cooperation between Changde Shipyard and the Damen Group was the purchase of the assets and all shares of Changde Shipyard from the Changde Municipality by the Damen Group in July 2002.
