Seven Pacific Naming Ceremony & Launch

seven-pacific_webThis morning in Krimpen a/d IJssel, the Netherlands, Ann Clarkson – wife of BP’s Senior Vice President E&P Projects Execution David Clarkson – successfully named the Seven Pacific, built by IHC Merwede Offshore & Marine for repeat customer Subsea 7, followed by its launch. The multi purpose offshore construction vessel is scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of this year.

artist_webThe Seven Pacific will feature a 260t Vertical Lay System, twin underdeck carousels and 250t heave-compensated knuckle boom crane – all Huisman-built – to enable the vessel to install flexible pipes and umbilicals in water up to 3,000 m deep. The underdeck carousels boast a 2,500t storage capacity. The Seven Pacific’s multi purpose aspirations are further enhanced by its built-in deepwater dual 3,000m-rated work-class ROV spread and a comprehensive survey system. A large deck area enables ample equipment and reel storage.

The ship has a 6.6kV integrated electric power generation system and is propelled by triple electric motor-driven azimuth thrusters with fixed pitch propellers in nozzles at the stern, which give the Seven Pacific a design speed of 14.2 knots at her 6.50m design draught. One retractable azimuth thruster and two transverse thrusters have been installed to the fore. All in all, the propulsion and manoeuvring setup adds up to a DP2-rated positioning capability. The total installed power onboard the 133.15m (loa) vessel amounts to 13,840 kW.
