Excitement Builds

mariette-pendennisIt is now less than two weeks to go until Pendennis hosts the second  Pendennis Cup in Falmouth. With over 200 crew visiting for the week’s racing and another 150 guests, the event will provide plenty of excitement and entertainment on and off the water. The largest yacht attending is Adela at an impressive 55.5 m and the smallest is Pinuccia at 14.6 m.

The Cup will be managed by the Port of Falmouth Sailing Association and the Royal Cornwall Yacht Club who have designed several different courses each one challenging the yachts to exploit their full potential and provide five days of exhilarating racing. The Race Office, centred in the National Maritime Museum’s Learning Centre, will also provide information about each day’s course. The Pendennis Cup runs from Monday 9 to Saturday 14 August, with the boats setting sail daily (except for Wednesday) from Port Pendennis Marina. There is an opportunity to glimpse these glorious boats underway from Pendennis Point and from the viewing balcony at the National Maritime Museum where Pendennis will host an exhibition about building and racing these classic superyachts. Other yachts competing are Mariette of 1915,  Mariquita, Velacarina, Tomahawk and Amigo.
