Major Contract Lifts OceanSaver Order Book

oceansaver1OceanSaver announced that Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Company (DSIC) has ordered ballast water management (BWM) systems for six VLCCs thus lifting the company’s order book to approximately NOK 280 million. The DSIC VLCC contract follows recent OceanSaver BWM system orders with Hyundai Heavy Industries for two Suezmax crude-oil tankers and six VLCCs at the Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Company.

To date, OceanSaver has won BWM system contracts for seventeen vessels – all of them large tankers. “OceanSaver’s innovative BWM system is becoming globally recognized by ship owners and shipyards as the best BWM solution particularly in the larger and more complex tonnage segments”, says Stein Foss, CEO, OceanSaver, “Our clients have found out that not only are our BWM systems designed and engineered for each application on ships, but the solutions are innovative and revolutionary themselves and more suitable for ships compared to most competitors which mainly are deriving from industrial water treatment applications.”

“OceanSaver BWM systems maximize the ballast performance of large vessels. For example, our system can ballast and de-ballast some 6000 m3 of water per hour and can be installed in gas hazardous areas. There is no other system in the market that can match the overall performance of OceanSaver”, claims Foss.

OceanSaver has clearly defined goals which include being the leading BWM system supplier within the large tonnage segment. Large vessels represent approximately 20% of the total number of ships worldwide and the operational demands of large ships stretch the ballasting and de-ballasting capacity of most BWM systems in the market. The challenge for traditional water treatment technologies is to adapt to the shipboard environment with its very high flow and low-pressure pumps, limited space and harsh conditions such as vibrations, pitching and rolling.
