Technological Alliance

simrad_2Navico’s Simrad brand and Consilium have entered into a strategic cooperation with the intent to offer new and innovative products. Through their strategic and technological alliance, the two companies first aim to significantly change the comprehension of short range radar target detection and processing, offering  advanced, yet operator-friendly, products.

The goal is to introduce radar systems for use on SOLAS vessels, yachts included, with a strong focus on piracy attack detection, and for other workboats too. The radar will be crucial with eliminating main bang suppression dead space and blind zones on vessels, have anti collision features, bad weather target detection and a docking radar. Navico is a manufacturer of marine electronics and the parent company to Simrad, B&G and Lowrance. “Our collaboration really benefits from the unique combination of solid state FMCW radar technology and decades of IMO navigational radar experience. We look forward to developing revolutionary products that will give our customers an advantage,” says Director Professional Market, Tim Ryder of Navico.

Consilium is a supplier in selected niche segments, with operations in 18 of the most important countries in shipbuilding, shipping and the oil and gas industry. The company has over 30 years of experience in marine and safety equipment. Products will be brought to market under both the Simrad and Consilium brands.
