Barkmeijer Shipyards Delivers Marietje Marsilla

marietjemarsilla_webFollowing her successful sea trials, Barkmeijer Shipyards has handed over the Marietje Marsilla to her owners, Danser Van Gent from Delfzijl, the Netherlands. The Marietje Marsilla is a multi-purpose dry cargo vessel, which is also suitable for transporting containers. For navigating the Baltic region and the Canadian lakes, the vessel is built to comply with the 1A Finnish ice class regulations.

The Marietje Marsilla – ordered by Wagenborg Shipping together with the H.J. Danser family – is the second of a series of four dry cargo ships. The first vessel of the series, the Marietje Andrea, was delivered in November 2009 and was featured in ShipBuilding Industry Vol. 3, No. 6. In 2011 and 2014, two sister ships will be delivered. At this moment, Barkmeijer is also building the first in a series of at least two but possibly three pilot station vessels for the Dutch Pilotage. The delivery of this first vessel is scheduled for August 2012. The deliveries of the two subsequent pilot vessels are scheduled for 2013 and 2014.
