Marina Manual

marina_manualThe Marina Manual offers marina owners, managers and authorities an A to Z guide of how to set up, administer, and operate a marina efficiently. Authored by marina guru, Simon Arrol, who for sixteen years headed up Camper & Nicholsons Marinas Ltd, and later became a founding director of Island Global Yachting in Dubai, it contains a system that has been developed across various countries over a 20-year period.

Volume I covers marina administration and operations and Volume II provides forms, contracts, check-lists, and employment documents needed to administer and operate a marina. The Marina Manual has been designed to be easy and simple to use, suitable for readers of all nationalities, opening it up to markets abroad. A number of sales agents have been selling the Manual around the world, meeting clients face to face in their own region and time zone. The approach has proved to be relatively successful so far, with nearly half of the sales in the first three months after publication being in countries where English is not the main language.

Simon said: “I designed the Manual with ease of use in mind to appeal to as wide an audience as possible. It will hopefully be useful at all sorts of stages, but particularly at the inception of a new marina. To compile a comprehensive handbook of marina administration and operations, including standard operating procedures, would be a time-consuming and expensive task for even the best marina team. At many marinas, with limited budget and staff skills, it would never get done.”

The Marina Manual will be available for viewing on the Marina World magazine stand at METS 16 – 18 November.
