Beaucephalus Delivered to Global Offshore Services BV

beau1_webGlobal Offshore Services BV, a 100 % subsidiary of Garware Offshore Services Ltd has taken delivery of a Havyard 832 L SE platform supply vessel in Bergen, Norway, on Wednesday 1 December 2011. Yard number 105 is built by Havyard Leirvik AS shipyard and named Beaucephalus by Shefali Bajaj, the daughter of main shareholder Mr. Ashok Garware. The ship is the eight Havyard 832 design delivered to date.

Beaucephalus is designed by Havyard Design AS in Fosnavåg, Norway. The Havyard 832 L SE is a large medium size platform supply vessel (PSV) meeting future market demands. This design has found a new niche within the PSV segment. The design has larger capacities compared to existing designs in the medium segment and is today defined as ‘large medium size’, it has energy-optimised diesel electric propulsion and satisfies the environmental demands of Clean Design. A further three Havyard 832s are construction. All of the ships that have been delivered so far are on longterm contracts and the second hand value has proved to be very good.

beau_webThe Havyard 832 L SE is based on the Havyard 832 CD design and has been further developed in accordance with customer demands and also general market demands. Compared to a standard Havyard 832 CD this new design is extended and also has a larger ship interior. As a result Havyard 832 L SE has a bigger deadweight tonnage (storage capacity), accommodation for more people and is far more flexible in regards to the types of jobs the ship can do. In addition to usual platform supply jobs this vessel is also designed to perform smaller types of construction work and general maintenance and repair on subsea oil installations. The ship is prepared for installation of offshore cranes as well as ROV- (Remotely Operated Vehicle) handling. The Havyard 832 L SE is also prepared for a moonpool.

An already successful working partnership between Havyard Group and Garware Offshore Services Ltd. has developed further in the last few years. This is now clearly visible by Havyard Leirvik’s delivery of the fifth ship to Garware Offshore Services Ltd. in only four years. The company has its main offices in Mumbai, India and has several PSV vessels and AHTS vessels in their fleet. The company’s PSVs are serving in India and in the North Sea, with their AHTSs operating in India and in Asia.
