metsMETS inc. the SuperYacht Pavilion 2010 was a bright finale to an economically difficult year with a modest rise in attendance over 2009 and a record number of 1,320 exhibitors. “The show was fresh and lively with a strong sense of optimism,” said METS senior product manager, Irene Dros. “There was a definite mood amongst exhibitors that corners were being turned and that progress was firmly back on the agenda.”

“A modest but nonetheless noticeable rise in attendance – 18,861 visits for 2010 from 94 countries versus 18,454 in 2009 – endorsed the significance international visitors place in attending METS/SYP,” she added. “We see this as an incredibly positive sign that 2011 will be a brighter year for many.”

METS/SYP 2010 welcomed a record number of 261 first-time exhibitors from all over the world. Many were new to the industry as well as being new to METS and benefited from a busy and professional introduction to the marine sector. “METS is certainly the place to be if you are new to the market,” said Mattias Brundell, general agent for Hollins Industries International, Inc., of Canada. “By the second day of the show we’d established contact with interested distributors from Scandinavia, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Poland and the UK as well as from South Korea, Canada and the USA.”

The SuperYacht Pavilion 2010 reinforced its pole position as the leading international business platform for superyacht professionals with a non-stop flow of visitors out to meet the industry’s essential suppliers. METS inc. the SuperYacht Pavilion 2011 will be held 15-16-17 November.

Statistics 2010: 18,861 visits from 94 countries (2009: 18,454), 1,320 exhibiting companies from 41 countries (2009: 1,261), Including 151 exhibitors in the SuperYacht Pavilion (2009: 115), 5,575 exhibitor staff.
