Shipowner Agreements offer a broad range of options and can be tailored for additional flexibility during the life of the agreement to cater for shipowners’ changing requirements. This time it is the turn of Swiss-based Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A. (MSC), one of the world’s largest container shipping lines.

Following in the wake of record-breaking contracts recently signed by VIKING with leading lines such as Stolt Tankers and E.R. Schiffahrt, this latest deal is especially remarkable in that it stretches over a ten-year period.  The terms of the fixed price agreement call for all of the shipowner’s existing liferafts to be replaced with VIKING liferafts from three main ports. MSC has also taken advantage of the financing options available under the VIKING Shipowner Agreements.

Important Win
“For VIKING, this is a particularly important win, since MSC is one of the leading global carriers of the world”, said VIKING’s Vice President Henk van der Drift. “At the same time, the deal recognizes the unique strength and breadth of our company’s servicing offerings which, given the speed with which our network and servicing products are expanding, have become a hard act to follow for our competitors.”
Marco Garbelli, VIKING’s Key Account Director in Italy, is enthusiastic about the company’s win. “We have been helping MSC with VIKING Managed Service for some time and they were so satisfied they have now signed a ten-year agreement”, he said.
