Broadband Communications For PIL Container Fleet
Telemar, in partnership with Vizada, has signed a deal with Singapore-based Pacific International Lines (PIL) to provide broadband communications for their container vessel fleet. PIL, a major ship owner in Singapore, has concluded this deal for the Inmarsat FleetBroadband service on 88 vessels and 27 new builds. As one of the largest ship owners in Asia, PIL needs reliable communication technology at sea to run their operations.
By signing this three-year deal for 124 Inmarsat FleetBroadband terminals – including Thrane & Thrane Sailor 250 and 150 terminals – Telemar and Vizada will assure reliable communications for PIL. This highly innovative shipping project combines two Inmarsat FleetBroadband terminals working in parallel on suited applications thereby increasing the flexibility and richness of the customer experience. This project will further rely on an IP networking system and LAN with twelve onboard connection points. The Sailor 150 will be dedicated to crew communication and will serve as backup terminal to the Sailor 250.
Turnkey
Telemar will provide a turnkey solution for the installation of the terminals in ports of call of PIL vessels as well as LAN project and installation onboard. This project relies on Telemar capabilities as the leading maritime systems integrator and last mile operator. Their worldwide service and maintenance network adds tangible value to the broadband experience and improves owners’ operational effectiveness.
PIL will choose from a wide range of Vizada Solutions, such as Terralink Data Manager for firewall options and web compression & filtering, or SkyFile Antivirus that will help protect the internet security of the vessels while giving end-users access to powerful yet cost-effective tools. PIL will interconnect the ship management software Bass Net with SkyFile Mail to optimise ship-to-shore communications and remote management.
Long-Term Experience
