Castrol Marine & AMW Marine Lubricant Service
Castrol Marine lubricants has appointed Associated Motorways (AMW) as its exclusive distributor in Sri Lanka, extending an agreement between the two companies stretching back to 2000. Over the last decade, AMW has been acting on Castrol’s behalf to distribute lubricants for automotive and industrial applications. Now, AMW is setting up a 24/7 dedicated marine lubricants service, looking to support ship owners.
AMW has established a marine division to act for Castrol Marine, backed by technical experts from India, and offering the full range of Castrol Marine lubricants. Malaka Elikewela, AMW Business Development Manager, Marine/Power/ Institutional, who is taking charge of the Castrol Marine account, said that the new service would benefit from a dedicated bonded storage facility within the port premises of Colombo, following an agreement between AMW and Colombo Port Authority.
Exciting Time
“This is an exciting time for the lubricants sector in Sri Lanka”, he said. “Colombo has become one of the most frequently visited regional ports, where positive business sentiment prevails in the country, based on strong growth in Sri Lanka’s economy as a whole. The agreement means we can draw on Castrol Marine’s 100 years of marine experience across 850 ports worldwide, supplying high performance products and services to keep critical equipment operating at maximum efficiency. For the last 10 years, it is fair to say that we have been making great strides in the local market by emphasising the way Castrol seeks the high ground in delivering top quality, reliable product for automotive and industrial applications.”
Firm Commitment
Mr Elikewela said that a leading local ship owner had already made firm commitments to take delivery of lubricants supplied by Castrol Marine. “Castrol Marine’s product range is constantly evolving to meet changing industry needs”, he said, “and the company is continually striving to provide products of consistently high quality, formulated to deliver the most cost effective lubricant solutions. High performance lubricants translate directly into less maintenance and downtime and greater operating efficiency.” Mr Elikewela said that the new operation would be supported by AMW’s Head of Sales, Sri Lanka, a Regional Manager from India, and a dedicated Technical Engineer.
