Gulf of Opportunities
Wärtsilä Propulsion Services portfolio contacted International Business Research (IBR) to do research in Mexico. IBR offers unique research opportunities for Dutch companies, and the aim of this research is to give Wärtsilä insights into the Mexican market, speficically local developments and the preferences of potential customers. IBR reports that the local offshore sector offers great opportunities, partly because PEMEX wants to collaborate more with foreign parties.
Because of a new law, PEMEX is, since 1998, allowed to start more operations in deep water, which offers opportunities for foreign parties who deliver technologies and services for the upstream oil and gas industry. Five new ports will be built and twenty-two existing ports will be modernised, which offers additional opportunities for onshore activities. Also, sixty new platforms will be constructed.
Research Offer
At this moment, two students will start with preliminary research and in May- June 2011 they will conduct field research in Mexico. A total of 25 Students of the University of Groningen will travel to Mexico in order to conduct market research for (Dutch) companies against cost price. Research opportunities include for instance feasibility research, competitor analysis, distribution analysis and sector analysis. There are still places left for other companies to join IBR.
