havyard832l_sartor_mars11_c-1Havyard Ship Technology AS has signed a contract with Sartor Offshore AS for the delivery of a Havyard 832 L platform supply vessels with option for an additional ship. The ship will be built at Havyard Ship Technology’s yard in Leirvik in Sogn and will be delivered in January 2012. The option is scheduled for delivery in June 2012. The contract price for the new building is in excess of NOK 300 million. The first ship will have NB No. 103Havyard 832.

The ship has been developed by Havyard Design & Engineering and was a great success for Havyard Group and ship owners who have ordered this design. This contract, which is for a Havyard 832 L PSV is the eleventh in the series of this design type. Havyard 832 has defined a new segment of medium-sized platform supply ships and offers greater load capacities, better flexibility, better performance and lower fuel consumption than competing designs. The proof of this is that almost all of the contracted Havyard 832 have long term contracts and get very positive feedback from the owners and crew about the capabilities of the ships that are put into operation. This is also reflected in the high second hand market value of the vessels.

The company that has ordered the ship is Sartor Offshore AS in cooperation with Pareto. Sartor Offshore aims to be among the leaders in the MRV and PSV segment and has an ambitious program to renew the fleet over the next few years. Sartor Offshore currently operates a total of 24 offshore vessels and has over 600 employees. The headquarters of company located in Sotra and they also have a separate operating company in Aberdeen.

We expect that activity will pick up, and the need for this type of vessels will increase in future years. This, together with a need for renewal of both our own fleet and the PSV fleet generally means that this is a correct decision. The vessel has the highest environmental class, NOFO 2009 and fits into our strategy of increasing our share of PSV. We are also pleased to be able to build in Norway, which again shows that the yards here are competitive, especially in design and quality but also on price ” , said Roy Wareberg, CEO of Sartor Offshore AS.
