ClassNK Releases Free Emission Analysis Software
ClassNK took another step forward in its efforts to help improve the efficiency of international shipping today with the release of its new environmental efficiency analysis software, PrimeShip-GREEN/EEOI. The new software is a shipboard and web based software system for calculating and analysing the environmental efficiency of ships in service in line with the IMO’s Energy Efficiency Operational Index (EEOI).

Important Issue
Reducing maritime greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions is one of the most important issues facing the maritime industry today, and as part of these efforts, the IMO has investigated a number of technical measures, operational measures, and market based instruments for reducing emissions across the maritime industry. EEOI is one such operational measure that is expected to provide great benefit to owners and operators in their efforts to lower vessel emissions.
Extensive Testing
ClassNK’s new PrimeShip-GREEN/EEOI system is a powerful analysis tool that makes it easy to determine a ship’s efficiency in accordance with the IMO EEOI guidelines laid out in MEPC.1/Circ. 684. With PrimeShip-GREEN/EEOI, ship owners and managers can visually assess the CO2 emission volumes of their fleet, compare the operational efficiency of ships within their own fleets, establish emission targets, and easily recognise the factors affecting operational efficiency.
PrimeShip-GREEN/EEOI has undergone extensive testing and is already used by a number of maritime companies, but as part of its efforts to assist the maritime industry in fight against GHG emissions, ClassNK is providing the new software free of charge to companies throughout the world via the ClassNK website.
