Icon Outlook

icon_superyachtIcon Yachts reports that currently there is a total of 444 m in luxury yachts at the shipyard. With a mix of new builds, refit projects and cooperation with other builders, the yard is looking ahead to a busy 2011 at the facility in the North of the Netherlands. The shipyard has developed from initially focusing purely on building pre-engineered technical platforms to offering totally custom built yachts from 30-150 m.

With the opportune location and flexible facilities the yard features unrestricted open water access up to 7,5m draft and a clear mast height in the main assembly dry dock of 28m above NAP.

Midlandia
The shipyard is scheduled to complete the fourth vessel, the 63m project Midlandia, early 2012 and is preparing the construction of a further project largely based on the proven hull and technical platform. Larger projects on the drawing board include a 73m design proposal that will feature the styling of the Hotlab design office and a 85m under 3000GRT design that has developed from the yard’s hull platform. These will be released for this year’s Monaco Yacht Show with particular focus on multifunctional use of spaces and versatile propulsion systems.

Mega Marine
The most recent launch, the 43m completion project Sunbeam, is now sparkling in the sunlight with her oyster white exterior. Although not an Icon Yacht, the shipyard reports that the client’s representatives, Mega Marine, are extremely pleased with the enthusiasm and flexibility with which the yard has encompassed the project.

Increase in Activity
Director of ICON Yachts, Jen Wartena comments: “We are extremely pleased to report significant increase in market activity and now have orders stretching into 2014. With the recent signature of a letter of intent for a new construction concept based on the Icon 62 we are further establishing our market position in the list of highly regarded super yacht builders in the Netherlands. The repaint contract in cooperation with Balk Shipyard on the 60m motoryacht Slipstream underlines our ability to serve competitively in the refit sector.”
