UAEC & Ahoy To Host CIMPS-EUROPORT 2012


ahoy_web2At the opening day of CIMPS, the China International Marine, Port & Shipbuilding Fair, Europort signed the official contract for the joint organisation of CIMPS-Europort in Nanjing, China, creating direct involvement in the world’s largest shipbuilding industry. Entering the Chinese market is part of the international growth strategy of Europort that now organises exhibitions in the Netherlands, Romania, Turkey and China.

CIMPS is organised by UAEC under the patronage of Jiangsu Department of Commerce. The second edition of this upcoming maritime exhibition took place from 12 – 14 April 2011. It attracted around 500 exhibitors and more than 8,000 visitors. In 2010, the exhibition was  awarded the prestigious title of ‘2010 Chinese Top Ten Brand Exhibition’. During the opening ceremony on 12 April, the cooperation between Ahoy and UAEC was officially announced. This means that from 2011 onwards the exhibition will be re-branded into CIMPS-Europort. The first edition with the new brand name will take place from 25 until 27 April 2012. UAEC and Ahoy Rotterdam have the ambition to become the leading maritime exhibition in China.

Number One
CIMPS-Europort takes place in Nanjing, the capital of the Jiangsu province that is the number one shipbuilding area of China. The city is located on the bank of the Yangtze River. Geographically, Nanjing plays a very important role in linking all the cities from east to west and from south to north. It is characterised by its advanced trade and finance, its leading position of science and technological education in China. The province of Jiangsu has more than 1,000 diversified ship manufacturers and shipbuilding enterprises. The shipbuilding output of this area accounts for a 36.4% of national market share and a 12.6% total world market share. The Jiangsu maritime industry accelerates the introducing of international advanced manufacturing technology and is focusing more and more on high value added ships which is also one of the key assets of Europort.

Strong Official Support
CIMPS-Europort is strongly supported by important government sectors, the China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry (CANSI), the Chinese Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineering (CSNAME) and China Ship-owners Association (CSA). CIMPS has concentrated to display the newest production and technology of world shipbuilding industry, and it is also a most important platform to accelerate cooperation and communication between Jiangsu and global shipbuilding industry.
