Apex Tubulars Adopts New CorDEX Atex Laser Measure

cordex_instrumentsAberdeen-based Apex Tubulars , a casing and tubing inspection company in Europe, has speeded up the measuring of equipment with a new explosion proof laser measure. Apex has invested in the handheld LaserMeter 3000XP from CorDEX Instruments to assist in its busy inspection programme and in managing large orders being shipped around the world. “We were impressed with the LaserMeter 3000XP because of its Atex and CSA accreditation”, commented Gary Park.

The operations manager at Apex Tubulars continuoud: “This  means we can use the tool  offshore without hot permits as well as onshore at our inspection compound. The handheld design is easy to use and it measures to the third of a decimal point as well as giving overall accumulative length, which saves time as well as improving accuracy.” The LaserMeter 3000XP is the first measuring device to be approved for use in explosive areas, making it ideal for use offshore and in the mining and petrochemical industries. It has been built to last, with a rugged industrial-grade construction. Encased in tough aluminium, it can withstand harsh environments and has simple operating functions designed for workers wearing protective kit and gloves.

Flameproof Design
The flameproof design incorporates a shock resistant, anti-static over mould with interchangeable battery pack and backlit LCD screen. It includes features such as Pythagoras, area and volume calculations and can measure distances of up to 30m. Mr Park added: “In our line of work, improving efficiency is incredibly important and this tool can get the job done quickly and safely. The versatility of the laser measure, which includes an in-built spirit level for accuracy, was a big attraction.” Marcus Halliday, director at CorDEX Instruments stated: “Safely measuring pipeline and equipment both offshore and onshore has been an industry challenge, so we are delighted that Apex Tubulars chose the LaserMeter 3000XP to enhance their processes.”
