Chinese Delegation Visit Aberdeen Firm

offshore_wireline_bitmapWireline and well intervention technology specialist Wireline Engineering, welcomed over 20 oil and gas delegates from China at its office and workshop facilities in Blackburn, Aberdeen. The tour had been organised by Lifeng Wang, a BP geophysicist working in Aberdeen (and originally from China), after visiting the company’s stand at the Offshore Europe event. The delegates included engineers and economists from the China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec Corp.).

The visitors had a tour of the office and manufacturing facility and demonstration of Wireline Engineering’s Advanced Kickover Tool – developed and extensively field proven to provide greater operational efficiency and lower intervention costs to the oil and gas industry. BP was the first operator to use the patented downhole technology in the UK North Sea, hailed as a breakthrough in enhancing the efficiency of gas lift mandrel interventions by improving wireline conveyance and tool orientation.

Fantastic Opportunity
Richard Jackson, sales manager, Asia & Australia, said:  “We were delighted to be approached to accommodate a visit with the Sinopec Corp. Chinese delegation. The technology appealed to the group due to their engineering backgrounds and with Sinopec being the largest energy organisation in China it was a fantastic opportunity to showcase our innovations. The visit was just one outcome from our successful week during Offshore Europe and highlights the interest and opportunities globally for our tools and technology.”

Open Hole Roler Bogie
The group also watched a set up and demonstration of the patented Open Hole Roller Bogie technology – a specialist conveyance tool that is used in challenging downhole operations to eliminate tool string friction in deviated oil and gas wells.
