Multi Wire Sheave
Offshore operations take place at greater depths, fuelling demand for single or double fall lifting. Usually this requires a larger diameter wire rope, but at the same time – depending on depth and required lifting capacity – there is a need to be able to adapt the wire diameter. Recently, Van Mechelen Lifting Gear designed and manufactured wire rope sheaves for wire ropes of different diameter, consisting of a ‘standard’ hub and web and a rim featuring exchangeable lining inserts.
The lining inserts are available in a variety of materials, including polyamide (PA), Lamigamid, polyurethane (PU), steel and cast iron. The first series of sheaves with a groove profile of 45° now available can fit wire rope varying from 76 mm up to 130 mm in diameter – all and a highest line pull of 400 t (incl. dynamic factor).
