Senergy Appoints Vice President Of Resources

vivien2_200Leading energy services company Senergy appointed Vivien Broughton their vice president (VP) of resources to further strengthen their commitment to building and developing its global talent pool. Through her broad oil and gas career, starting out as a geologist and subsequently working as a wells engineer before moving into human resources, she has established an impressive track record for effective business solutions that improve retention and attract new talent.

As VP of resources at Senergy, she will work in partnership with the business, providing specialist knowledge in recruitment, employment issues, coaching and mentoring. She will also lead her team in the delivery of initiatives such as internal learning and development programmes, leadership and management development activities, and the introduction of a graduate/young professional scheme.

Grow
Vivien decided to change her career path and move into human resources in 2002 after spending more than 10 years in technical roles. She said: “Helping others to grow and develop by sharing my knowledge and providing guidance and feedback always gave me a real sense of satisfaction, so I was delighted when the opportunity arose for me to change direction and move into a global human resources role.”
Vivien, who holds an honours degree in geology, is a chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development as well as a chartered engineer and member of the Institute of Materials, Mining and Metallurgy. She is also an advisor to the Post Grad Board at Aberdeen’s Robert Gordon University.

People
vivien3_200“I’m thrilled to be joining Senergy at a time when the company is growing and globalising into new markets. Senergy’s strength lies in its team of technically excellent people and I’m looking forward to enhancing our capabilities to meet our employees’ and clients’ needs”, Vivien said, speaking of her new appointment. “We are facing the same demographic challenges as the rest of the industry which is why Senergy is committed to investing in people to ensure our business is sustainable and robust. Knowledge resides in people so creating an environment where it is transferred and retained within the company will allow us to develop our own talent pipeline and improve succession planning for the future.”

Benefit
“Coming from a technical background, I have the benefit of seeing things from a broader perspective but ultimately, every manager is a people manager regardless of whether you are in a technical, operational or business role. It’s all about your people and ensuring they have clearly defined career paths, the opportunity to broaden their horizons, and that they receive appropriate reward and recognition for their contribution”, she emphasised.

Hand On Experience
Senergy’s chief executive officer, James McCallum, said: “Vivien’s hands on technical experience in subsurface and drilling prior to moving into human resources gives her a unique understanding of our business, and makes her an extremely valuable addition to our team as we enter the next stage of Senergy’s rapid global growth. She will be responsible for making sure the business strategy and vision translates into excellence in people development and planning to ensure we have qualified, competent talent available to underpin our expansion and meet our clients’ needs for technical, operational and business excellence.”
