Amels announced their new 55m yacht, Step One, will make her first public appearance at the Monaco Yacht Show this September. With a sun deck measuring 24.5 m long, and a helipad with 2,000kg take-off weight, Step One is the first of the Amels 180 series in the Limited Editions range. According to Amels, their Limited Edition yachts bridge the gap between semi-custom and full custom yachts.

The yacht’s streamlined exterior was drawn by renowned British designer Tim Heywood and her full custom interior by Laura Sessa from Rome. Step One passed all tests on the first day of her sea trial in April, to the satisfaction of Lloyd’s Register and the owner’s representative, Moran Yachts & Ship.

With annual growth of 10 percent over the past four years, Amels is one of the largest superyacht builders in the Netherlands. This year has kept the yard busy with three new-builds and two refits delivered on time, and with another nine new construction projects underway.

Amels is the exclusive yacht-building member of the Dutch Damen Shipyards Group, the largest shipyard in the Netherlands. Damen consists of more than 39 shipyards and marine-related companies throughout the world. A family owned company, Damen employs over 6,000 people, delivered 150 vessels in 2011 and has an annual turnover of approximately EUR1.3 billion.
