We’ve launched the latest edition of Offshore Industry. In this issue is an in-depth ship report on Subsea 7’s latest asset Seven Borealis. Offshore Industry was the one and only Netherlands-based maritime magazine invited by Subsea 7 to participate an exclusive tour on board hosted by CEO Jean Cahuzac.
Furthermore you’ll find in this issue an update by offshore editor John Gauldie on the new generation ‘farshore’ wind installation vessels, which install heavier turbines than predecessors in deeper water and farther from shore.
There is also ample attention for accommodation contractor OAC-Group. The OAC-Group offers new build accommodation extension modules built on the specific requirements and specifications of each client, as they often have their own company standards. For Noble Drilling, they built semi-permanent living quarter units, which were placed upon a special frame above the cement and barite tanks aft of the accommodation, while the rig was in full production. They also extended the accommodation by building an additional level on top of the existing one.
Johan Vermoen sketches the last major project: “We have finished our latest accommodation extension project for Total E&P Nederland this summer. For the K6P platform we have built two special shaped accommodation units that were installed in a way that has never been done before… Inside the accommodations you find three two-person cabins with bathroom, wardrobes, survival suit locker, desks, and a flat screen television at the foot of each bed. The corridor also gives access to a small cleaning locker.”
Last but not least, we provide a serious preview of Offshore Energy 2012 (OE12). As the only annual event in the Netherlands dedicated to offshore energy and the fastest growing offshore event in Europe, OE12 has much in store. On 23 and 24 October the fifth edition of OE12 will take place at the Amsterdam RAI. Organisers expect some 400 exhibitors and over 6,500 visitors to the two-day event. Exhibitors will showcase their products and services to the world’s experts and decision makers in the upstream oil, gas and energy industry. Alongside the exhibition, the conference programme covers trending topics and possible solutions for the offshore community. This year’s highlights: the role of the maturing North Sea, developments in offshore wind, wave and tidal energy and frontier E&P activities.

Other interesting subjects highlighted in this issue include special illumination tools for hazardous working environments manufactured by Finland’s Centaurea.
